What is online now

Under Wissen → Noten you will now find our full practice library: 627 entries for eight instruments. It splits into two kinds, and the difference matters:

• 597 phrases and licks — short building blocks. One groove, one position, one movement. Made for repeating, not for performing.
• 30 complete pieces — music with a beginning and an end, the kind you can play for someone.

You need both, and you need them for different reasons. Phrases build the technique. Pieces give you a reason to build it.

Where the material comes from

Everything in the library is either written by us — our own phrases in the style of a way of playing, plus the concepts behind them — or in the public domain. We do not transcribe other people's songs. That is not caution, it is a decision: a transcribed solo teaches you how somebody else played one passage. A well-built phrase teaches you how the passage works — and that you can play anywhere.

What you can do with it

Every entry plays directly in the browser. You can pull the tempo down, play along, and repeat a passage until it sits. Notation and tab sit one above the other, with the metronome running.

What we are working on

Two things are not good enough yet, and we would rather say so:

The loop. Right now it repeats whole bars. It should let you mark any passage at all — even two sixteenths in the middle of the third beat — and mute the rest while the metronome keeps running. We are on it.

The sorting. Phrases and complete pieces should be tellable apart at a glance, not only after you click.

Both are coming in the next few weeks. The library itself is usable right now — free, no sign-up.
