- When can I start playing in a band?
- As soon as you can play a few songs. Complete beginners start with private lessons or the eight-week beginners’ course and then move into a band at their level – bands are put together by age and ability, and new groups start all the time.
- How much does the band programme cost?
- €52 per month per person. For that you rehearse once a week for 60 minutes as a fixed band of 3–5 people, build a set and play it on stage. All prices are on the prices page.
- Do I need private lessons to play in a band?
- The band programme is its own subscription. Many people combine it with private lessons, because what you practise alone immediately turns into music with others – private lessons can run in parallel, but they are not a requirement.
- How often and how long does the band rehearse?
- Once a week for 60 minutes, with a fixed line-up. A band at Fretster is not a course with changing faces but a group that stays together and works on one set.
- Are there gigs?
- Yes. Every band plays a concert for an audience and gets a professional recording – every year. That is what the rehearsals work towards.
- What ages is the band programme for?
- Children from 6, teenagers and adults. Children and teens play in bands of their own age group; adults in adult bands. You learn faster in a band: playing together motivates, trains the ear and is more fun than practising alone.
